We are looking for additional Trustees’ to join our existing Board of Directors
31st December 2016
Action Station was founded in 1998 by members of the local Anglican, Methodist, and Catholic churches working with members of the community. It was recognised that there was a need for a multi-action Centre where caring agencies run by volunteers and paid workers could work together to provide the means to improve the quality of life for people living on South Tyneside.
Since opening, Action Station has quickly grown into a well-established and renowned community facility. Official recognition of this achievement has been manifested through the presentation of the Queen’s Jubilee Award (for providing Advice and Education Facilities to South Tyneside residents), the Silver Award from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust (for Best Practice), and the Charities Award (for the promotion of Social Care, Welfare, and Religion)
Action Station has recently moved to larger premises and aims to support our community by establishing social enterprises which will create employment, well-being and training opportunities in the community and strengthen the core activities of Action Station through sustainability.
We are now looking to recruit additional Trustees to strengthen our existing Board. This is a voluntary role; however the Trustees play a crucial role in the governance and strategic direction of the organisation and in giving support to the management team.
The board meets every month, with further Trustee involvement encouraged by networking, attending seminars and sub-groups relating to the interests and expertise of the Trustee.
Applicants will have a real enthusiasm for the aims and objectives of the charity and a willingness to devote the time and effort required to fulfil our aims. Team work and good communication skills are essential, as is an awareness of the demands of running a charity that supports the community.
We are seeking Trustees with expertise in the following areas:-
Training and adult education
Contracting and Output Related Funding
Marketing and Business Development
Education & Training
